INTERNALISASI NILAI-NILAI TRADISI SEBAGAI SUMBER PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER PENDDIKAN ANAK USIA DINI
Abstract
Peuadatan, the customary system of the Acehnese people, is inseparable from the historical philosophy of Adat bak Poteu Meureuhom, Hukom bak Syiah Kuala, which reflects a symbiotic relationship between customary authority and Islamic law in Acehnese society. This philosophy positions Acehnese adat not as a secular tradition but as a cultural expression that has been thoroughly Islamized, making it a potentially rich source of character values for Islamic early childhood education (PAUD Islam). This article aims to examine the philosophical relationship between Acehnese adat and Islamic law, to identify the character values embedded in various Acehnese customary traditions, and to analyze how these values can be integrated into Islamic early childhood education. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review (library research) method, collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing books, national and international journal articles, and historical documentation related to Acehnese adat and early childhood character education. The results show that customary traditions such as Dodaidi/Peurateb Aneuk (a lullaby tradition), adat keumaweuh, and various communal customs function as an informal hidden curriculum that transmits values of tauhid, akhlak, gratitude, respect for elders, cooperation, and social responsibility to children from infancy through repetition and strong emotional bonding. The article concludes that the intentional integration of peuadatan values into Islamic PAUD curricula offers a culturally grounded and religiously coherent approach to character education, strengthening children's Islamic and Acehnese identity simultaneously while contributing to the preservation of Acehnese customary heritage for future generations.
