Abstract

Digital technology transformation has changed how educational institutions manage organizations, deliver learning, develop educator competencies, and make data-informed decisions. These changes place educational leadership in a strategic position because leaders influence whether technology remains an additional tool or becomes a catalyst for meaningful educational transformation. This article aims to analyze the role of educational leadership in responding to digital technology transformation through a narrative literature review. The reviewed literature includes journal articles, academic books, competency frameworks, and international reports related to digital leadership, digital competence, educational transformation, artificial intelligence, and technology governance. The review indicates that educational leadership in the digital era requires a learning-oriented vision, change-management capability, professional digital competence, systematic teacher capacity development, strong digital infrastructure and ecosystems, responsible data use, and attention to ethics, security, and equity. Educational leaders also need to establish an innovation culture that supports purposeful experimentation, collaboration, reflection, and organizational learning. Sustainable digital transformation cannot be achieved through device procurement alone; it requires alignment among educational goals, people, work processes, technology, policy, and evaluation. Therefore, educational leadership should operate as a driver of change that ensures technology is used in relevant, inclusive, safe, and learning-centered ways.
